Behold- a Lady...

I certainly love an handmade challenge.  When my sister-in-law showed me her newly scored Bamboletta Dolls, I thought, "I can do that"...So true to myself, I jumped head in before I even stepped on the plane back to NC.  And behold...

There are a great many tutorials out there and a couple of good resources...

A couple of lessons I learned in making my own Waldorf doll:

  •  Use good quality yarn-and a lot of it- for the hair This is very important.
  • Spend a lot of time getting the face just so, the devil is in the details.  I think I attempted her face 10 times.
  • Over stuff her-put in way more stuffing than you think is enough.  You want a full, almost pudgy doll in the end.  Don't skimp.
But when I was finished, I certainly understood the $200 plus pricetags for the real deal...I only wish Kate had any interest in dolls...I told myself and anyone asking that it was for her, knowing quite well that Kate will never embrace a doll...So there she sits on my bureau...

I had(dare I say have?) big plans to make more, one to look like HD, and a whole closet full of clothes, but, well....tomorrow is another day.  I guess I just like the challenge.
