Aspirations

One of the best things, I think, about having children is watching them develop and grow into their own little beings.  It is hard to keep the perspective that  it was not more than a year ago when Kate couldn't even kick a ball standing still, let alone while it was rolling toward her and she was running toward it.  Now look at her!  Before Kate was born, I thought our afternoons would be filled with dance lessons, maybe piano lessons, or after-school play practice.  But, I think Kate might have other plans.  It might be just through a mother's eyes, but I think soccer might be her niche....

Passing the Time During Flu and Cold Season

We have been keeping busy the past couple of weeks.  I have found a new obsessive-compulsive hobby to pass the time and keep my mind from wandering too much-amigurumi.  The ancient art of japanese crochet.  This is a completely useless pastime, but I am addicted to making these adorable big-headed stuffed animals.  I just can't get enough.  Right now I am about to finish a penguin.  Here's a pic of the elephant I made, a kitty, and my first attempt-a monkey.  (The gauge was off so it turned out pretty huge...)

While I have been busy with amigurumi, Kate has had a busy couple of weeks too, between the onslaught of colds and illnesses that befall us at this time of the year....
